Sternbergia sicula is the first one to bloom in our garden even before the autumn is fully here,

Beautiful, sunny flowers.  It's fall there and there's hope for spring here... the March sun is warm, despite the air temperature.


Sterbergia lutea took a little longer to come into bloom

But more and more Sternbergia sicula have been appearing around the garden; these were grown from seed and show a bit of variability,

And Sternbergia sicula continues and the brighter day today allowed them to open wide

Sternbergia greuteriana is even smaller than S. sicula!

Not one for the open garden! But holds its own in the rock garden,
