As implied - for the admins but no data that would compromise the security of the forum/website if hacked by non administrators

As of January 31, 2011, the NARGS Forum has implemented an Open Registration procedure which extends forum participation to any internet registrant whose request is validated and approved by a NARGS Forum Administrator.  Two PDF Docs are posted here, defining procedures to be followed by NARGS Forum Admins when validating registration requests. NARGS Forum Moderators may be interested in reading these documents to gain insight into security issues involved with "open registration" and the large amount of work that went into developing the processes, primarily by Hugh MacMillan, with some help by myself.

As we open registration to all, we ask that NARGS Forum Moderators be on the alert for any suspicious activities from new members (dubious links in their profiles, blatant spamming, etc) who may have sneaked in under the radar, and report such incidents to Hugh MacMillan or Mark McDonough.

Both documents updated, see the next message. - MMcD

Updated documents. This is for your information only.  Hugh MacMillan and I will remain in the capacity of reviewing and subsequently approving/rejecting all NARGS Forum registration requests.  These two documents should give further insight into the process.  As Moderators, be on the lookout for any new users that slip through security and start showing signs of spam or undesirable behavior.  We've already had at least one applicant that checked out clean, but a week later showed up in the spam databases as a spammer and we deleted the account.
