As the SMF program is, the search function is always limited to the topic, child board, board, or NARGS forum - depending on what page the search box is used:
---- if a search is entered on the initial NARGS Forum (that lists all boards), the entire forum is searched.
---- if a search is entered on a board or child board, than the search is executed only in that one particular board or child board.
---- if the search is entered on a topic page, the search is only for what is in that topic
To me it seems so silly that the entire forum isn't searched all the time. I can't imagine that people inherently know that it isn't. Just imagine the frustration generated by people assuming there is no info out there in the forum on a particular subject, simply because they are searching only a topic and not knowing it! Goodness, if the naysayers on Alpine-L discover this quirk, we might have our heads cut off!
So, if you find a setting to set the search function to "always search the entire forum",
I am all for it. Or is there a way to have a disclaimer at the search box, something that says to the effect:
"Search is limited to the topic or board(s) listed on this page"

Rick, just noticed this message tonight. Will respond next week after I'm back from my business trip.
