The [glow=red,2,300]deadline [/glow] for receiving Seed Exchange orders has been [glow=red,2,300]extended [/glow] to Monday, February 15th, giving NARGS members an extra weekend to pore over the Seed List and send in their requests. There are still many desirable seeds available.

Speaking as a volunteer in the order filling phase of the Seed Ex, I can tell you first had that Hugh is right.  There are a LOT of excellent seeds left to choose from.  And for any of you woody plant fans out there, we have a larger woody plant selection this year, due to the seed donations from the New York Botanical Garden.

I am pleased to announce for the Minnesota Chapter, that all remaining seed orders received as of Feb 5th have been filled this past Saturday, Feb 6th.  Orders will be mailed the following Monday.

Since the deadline for orders has been extended to Feb 15, our next order filling date will be Feb 19. All additional orders will be processed then, after which seed will be packed for shipping to the chapter performing the Surplus Seed Distribution.

Speaking as a participant of this phase of the Seed Ex, the "work" is great fun, a wonderful way to introduce members to the huge diversity of plants offered, and an easy venue to encourage seed propagation among members who have no experience.  Our first order filling party also included a "panel discussion" on proven methods that our chapter members use to grow alpine seeds.

I wish everyone success in their seed propagation endeavors, and a productive 2010 growing season!
