Rancho San Diego in spring, 2013

I spent a couple of weeks with my sister, who lives about 10 miles due east from San Diego. She has 2.5 acres, mostly in fruit trees, but the back portion of her property is left wild. Here are a few photos of the wildflowers, just beginning to bloom.

I'm sorry I don't know the species names for most.

Wow, it's great to see blooming plants in the wild again!  The dark phacelias are a stunning colour.

The dark phacelia is probably P. parryi.  It's a stunner in large swaths but even the individual plants are awesome.
