How the NARGS Forum Search Engine Works
It is intuitive to think that the way any search engine works is:
--- you punch in a word and it finds all the places where it is mentioned.
A place where these groups can document items relevant to their jobs. This area will also include any policies and decisions.

Note: this FAQ created to document what I consider to be the best way to split-off separate messages and merge them into a new topic someplace on the forum. Comments or questions welcome.
As the SMF program is, the search function is always limited to the topic, child board, board, or NARGS forum - depending on what page the search box is used:
---- if a search is entered on the initial NARGS Forum (that lists all boards), the entire forum is searched.
---- if a search is entered on a board or child board, than the search is executed only in that one particular board or child board.
---- if the search is entered on a topic page, the search is only for what is in that topic
I noticed when reading Kristl's 2008 "My bit of Heaven" that her signature on the SRGC says Nova Scotia, when it was Ontario when she originally wrote the post. Our NARGS forum uses the same program, and I have noticed similar things here too: that your signature and all that is posted on the left with your user name changes for all posts both new and old. Obviously, this is the way the smf program was written, but....
Here is a question for our computer experts (and an easy one I imagine)...
Occasionally, I add a link to a site that has a very long address, and for some reason, the link will not necessarily "wrap". It will instead, extend off in one line, so that one has to scroll to see it all. This causes the entire screen to widen, with a scroll bar at the bottom. I added such a link this morning...
How does one make the link "wrap" without actually breaking the link?
Thanks,
Lori
Hello fellow moderators,
I have created this topic to discuss any suggestions or issues relative to the structure of boards, sub-boards, and topic categories. We can start off with some excerpts from recent email discussion.

Dear Discussion Forum Moderators,
Can we have on our Forum a category "Plant and seed swap" - people would do just that, swap plants and seed.
The NARGS Forum opens to self-registration on January 31, 2011. The registration process will be such that a review of the requested login is conducted by Forum Administrators before a 'welcome' email is sent.
Hello all;
We will be eliminating several themes from the NARGS forum. the YaBB theme and the 'Sentinel' theme will be discontinued. If you are currently using either of these themes you will want to change to either the 'Core' or 'Absado' theme. We are attempting to streamline the administrative processes for future enhancements to the forum.
The NARGS Forum Administrator Team.
