Education Center of the Berkshire Botanical Garden, Stockbridge, MA (www.berkshirebotanical.org)
Our tufa crevice workshop will be led by Harvey Wrightman of New Brunswick, Canada. Dean Evans has agreed to bring 1,000 pounds of tufa. You may buy pieces from him to assemble in the workshop. You may also buy plants from Harvey or bring your own to plant in a trough. So bring your trough, your soil mix, gloves and plastic to cover the tables. Expect to spend about $20 or less for tufa. A selection of plants will be available from Wrightman Alpines at their prices. You can also insert your own small rooted cuttings or seedlings into the crevices. Harvey will teach us about building up the trough with special mixes and the tufa, planting in between (see Matt Mattus' journal for a previous workshop with Harvey). Please register in advance with Jacques Mommens so we can get a head count for this program. The workshop is free for BNARGS members. Workshop fee for non-members is $15 for individuals, $20 per couple (fee includes a 1-year membership in BNARGS).
