WESTERN WINTER STUDY WEEKEND

Why not share some of your favorite digital slides at the Winter Study Weekend?

We want to do something a little different this year. The members' slide program will not be late at night as in previous years, but a full hour will be devoted to members' slides during prime time before the Saturday evening banquet.

In order to make this available to everyone, we will collect digital pictures several weeks before the meeting and I will put them into a timed PowerPoint presentation.

Presenters will not control slide transition. Slides will be automatically timed for display (perhaps 4 to 8 seconds each, depending on how many slides we have to show). Some of the field trip shows were run this way at the Snowbird conference and I think it worked pretty well.

Each presenter can also have one or two longer slides (20 or 30 seconds) that he designates beforehand to allow some discussion. Perhaps those with few slides can have more time per slide than those with many slides. We will see how many we have to work with. Participants will have the option of commenting as their slides are shown or simply relaxing and enjoying the show.

Let's try a 30- or 40-slide limit, but if someone has a few more, we can probably handle it. Just one or two slides would also be OK. I will start each segment with the person's name on the screen (if possible, send a photo of yourself, perhaps in your rock garden, that I can put the name with).

All photos must be sent to me on a CD (no photos by email and none accepted at the meeting).
