alpinus This is a European high alpine, perennial aster having elliptical, hairy leaves with large solitary violet flowers on 10" stems in mid-spring. It grows easily in rocky soil in full sun. It may need protection from slugs, at least when young. There are many selected forms. Zones 3-7. |
