CAN ANYONE PROVIDE INFORMATION ON GROWING CRYPTANTHAS (BORAGE FAMILY)? UNDERSTAND THAT THE POPCORN PLANTS ARE DIFFICULT1
Well, Cryptanthus is a genus in the Bromeliaceae. Cryptantha is in the Boraginaceae.
They are easy from seed, but difficult to keep alive for more than a few years, most of the "good" ones inhabiting dry alkaline clay soil, with lots of sun, no summer humidity, and cold winters.
Other members of the Boraginaceae which form cushions, like Eritrichium nanum, are much easier.
