Beginning January 1, 2014, an additional member at the same address upon paying annual dues of $10 will be allowed to vote in NARGS elections, participate in the seed exchange, attend annual meetings without paying an additional membership fee, and log onto the new NARGS website as a member. This applies to all categories of primary memberships, including Patron and Life Members. More than one additional member at the same address is welcome. (The $10 fee is due at the time of the renewal of the primary member.) Only one copy of the Rock Garden Quarterly will be mailed to an address. Additional members at the same address who elect not to pay the additional annual membership fee will no longer have voting and annual meeting privileges and will be allowed to log onto the website as users only.
To register, the additional member must have a user account. (Non-members may already have an an account if they participated on the Forum on the old website.) To create a user account go to Login > Create New Account and fill in the boxes. The user must have a unique e-mail address. If a couple share an e-mail address, it is necessary to make up a non-functional one, such as email@example.com for the additional member. Be sure to save your work at the bottom of the page. The primary member then should log into their user account and select the Edit Membership hypertext under the Membership Terms box. Scroll down the Edit Membership page until you see Secondary Member and type in the username of the additional member. The database should recognize the name and it will appear in a box just below. It is important that you select the correct username that pops up. Do not hit return. Take this opportunity to update any other information on this page. (For instance, a local chapter affiliation.) Again, be sure to save your work at the bottom of the page.
If you are the primary member and you do not wish to pay the additional $10 a year for secondary members on your account. You simply go to your user page by clicking your username in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Select the Edit Membership hypertext under the Membership Terms box. Scroll down the Edit Membership page until you see Secondary Member and delete the secondary member. Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page to save your work. The secondary member will still have a user account.
